Gelf's Varsity Letters sports reading series returns to New York on Thursday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m, with an all-hockey night in time for the NHL's final eight. At this free monthly event at a DUMBO art gallery, hosted by Gelf, Jason Cohen, Jeff Z. Klein, and Laura Robinson will read from and talk about their work, and take questions. Cohen followed the fortunes of the minor-league Austin Ice Bats as they wandered across Texas. Klein blogs about hockey for the New York Times and is the biographer of Mark Messier. And Robinson wrote a book that offered an unflinching look at abuse in junior hockey.
