October 7: Gelf's Varsity Letters

Gelf's Varsity Letters sports reading series returns on Thursday, October 7, at 7:30 p.m. At this monthly event in DUMBO, Brooklyn, hosted by Gelf and Jan Larsen Art, Alex Belth, Jay Jennings, and Matthew Shepatin will read from and talk about their work. Belth will share his favorite sportswriters' favorite memories of the late, lamented Yankee Stadium; Jennings will recount the tale of an integrated high-school football team playing in the shadow of segregationist history; and Shepatin will tell the unlikely story of Don Maynard, the former Jets great.
