Rupert Murdoch: Hipster?

Gawker recently noted a new sort-of predilection amongst the super-rich—including Bruce Wasserstein, Rupert Murdoch, and George Soros—for young Asian women. While this could well be, well, nothing, Gelf couldn't help but notice that a nominally anti-corporate group always seemed to have an Asian fetish: white hipsters.

Now, this dude may shudder at the thought that he could have something, anything, in common with Rupert Murdoch, but he very well might. Take a look at indie bands like Deerhoof or Blonde Redhead. Or, you can play a game of hipster bingo (how would you do that? We really don't know). Hell, just take a walk through Williamsburg—okay, probably Greenpoint or Bushwick at this point—or Wicker Park. Maybe this isn't politically correct, but you'll notice it.

Of course, this isn't the first time that corporate types have followed in the footsteps of the hip—witness the Williamsburg luxury condo. It's also quite possible that we're making this up. Nevertheless, perhaps this can precipitate some kind of hipster-corporate truce. Both sides do spend insanely disproportionate amounts of money on clothes, after all.
