1. How many sketch-comedy festivals have you performed at? San Francisco Sketchfest: 2X, Chicago Sketchfest: 2X, Seattle Sketchfest: 4X, Los Angeles Fest of Sketch: 2X, D.C. Comedyfest: Once, Chicago Improv Festival: Once, Portland Best of the Best Festival: 2X. So to answer your question: 7 festivals, at a total of 14 times. 2. Who are you looking forward to seeing at the festival? Doing these sketch festivals, we've gotten to know a lot of great groups. There's a Sketchfest "circuit" that is developing as evidenced by the number of major cities that are hosting them. This is really a golden age of sketch comedy (which is like anybody else's bronze age) where there's a core bunch of sketch groups that perform regularly and attend these fests and we love the ability to see them when we travel. They're all doing fantastic work. 3. Besides yourself, who's the best sketch comedy group in the U.S. today? There's plenty of 'em! And they're all at the NYC Sketchfest. 4. Please give an example of something you think is funny. Well I can only speak for myself: It could be something as complex as the length of a pause a comedian takes on stage to sell a joke, or something as simple as a fat man carrying eggs, falling down. Depends on my mood. 5. What can viewers expect from your show? We pride ourselves on being good actors and great writers. Our material reflects that by never taking the audience for granted. When you watch a TROOP! sketch, you won't be able to tell where it's going in the first 15 seconds. We put our own spin on things that make a TROOP! show precisely that: a TROOP! show. |
