At the last Media Circus, there was an intense and lively panel discussion about the business prospects for hyperlocal and the companies involved with it. Jake Dobkin, publisher of Gothamist, blasted the New York Times and others for trying to break into a market he thought was already saturated. Mark Josepshon, CEO of Outside.in vigorously defended his company's work. And Andy Newman, Brooklyn blogger for the New York Times's The Local, found himself in the unfortunate position of representing the old guard on a new media panel.
