The Non-Motivational Speaker Series returns to New York's Lower East Side on Thursday, October 23, at 8 p.m. Curated and hosted by Adam Rosen, this monthly event features an above-average lineup of decidedly non-motivating authorities, each presenting views alternative and overlooked on matters of head-scratching, navel-gazing import.
Crime in the American City will be this month's theme. Featured speakers are Peter Moskos, assistant professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and author of Cop in the Hood, a chronicle of his stint as police offer in Baltimore City's notorious Eastern District [interview here]; freelance NY Post photojournalist and creator of the Courthouse Confessions blog Steven Hirsch [interview here]; and Tim McLoughlin [interview here], crime novelist and editor of the critically acclaimed Brooklyn Noir short story anthologies, along with Noir contributor Nicole Blackman.
The event will start at 8 pm at the Happy Ending Lounge, and is free.
