Feb. 18: Foreign Correspondents at Media Circus

While the economics of the journalism industry are shifting rapidly, foreign correspondents are on the front lines. As media wonks continue to debate the future of the famed Baghdad bureau, come hear from the people who have worked there. On February 18, Media Circus returns to Brooklyn with a night devoted to the past, present, and future of foreign correspondents. Tala Dowlatshahi, the New York Director of Reporters Without Borders and a longtime UN correspondent, will be joined by Larry Kaplow, who has been on assignment all over the globe, most recently as Newsweek's Baghdad bureau chief, and Tina Susman, a former Baghdad bureau chief for the LA Times who recently returned from covering the earthquake in Haiti.

Additionally, the evening will be filmed for the forthcoming documentary Fit to Print: A Documentary Film on the Newspaper Industry and the filmmakers will be discussing their project and interviewing members of the audience.

The work of local artists will be on display, as well.

The event will be held Thursday, February 18, at 7:30 pm (doors open at 7:00 pm) at the JLA Studios art gallery on 63 Pearl St. in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn—just one subway stop away from Manhattan! Admission is FREE. Drinks will be available. Please spread the word and bring your friends.
