Did you know that, until this weekend, there was a chance for a second-round NBA playoff series between two Los Angeles teams? More to the point, did you know that many members of the media thought that this possibility merited columns upon columns devoted to it? Now that the Suns have won three games in a row (the last one in a blowout) to knock the Lakers out, it's fun to sift through the editorial wreckage of the aborted Hallway Series.

Scoop Jackson, ESPN.com
When I told the editors I wanted to do a story on the scene in L.A. before the Lakers and the Clippers play each other in the second round of the playoffs, they said, "Scoop, you got jokes."
True, but KB8 and EB42 got punch lines.

Bill Simmons, ESPN.com
The Clippers fans were preparing for battle. They were getting ready to play the Lakers. First team to four wins takes the city.

Ray Ratto, Sportsline.com
There will be story lines galore, from Kobe the irresistible force to the renaissance of former Lakers coach Mike Dunleavy; from Kobe the old world-weary soul to the youthful energies of Elton Brand, Corey Maggette and Chris Kaman; from Kobe the man fighting a cruel world to the much-mocked Donald Sterling; even Kobe the otherworldly being and Clippers assistant Jim Eyen, who has been wearing a yellow armband through the playoffs in memory of one of his best friends and the father to his godchildren, who passed three weeks ago Sunday.

T.J. Simers, LA Times
The folks who run Staples Center are already wrestling with what to call the first playoff meeting between the Lakers and Clippers, Billy Crystal telling a Clipper TV audience last week he was looking forward to the "Hallway Series."
My suggestion: "Beat L.A.," which works for both teams, and the fans supporting the team that does lose can always sell their T-shirts to fans across the country who will need them sooner or later.
